Text messages between McNair and Kazemi was released by police

Nashville police released Monday the text messages between former NFL quarterback Steve McNair and his girl friend Sahel Kazemi, who shot McNair to death and turned gun on herself on July 4. The messages showed that Kazemi asked McNair to transfer money to her bank account.

There were about 50 messages released as part of a case summary and detailed the exchanges between the two hours before the July 4 murder-suicide. Kazemi texted McNair on July 3 to say she was so stressed she might have a breakdown and asked for money to pay cell phone bills. One text said she might need to go to a hospital because she could hardly breathe. And messages from McNair showed that the man who used to wear the NFL jersey had someone transfer the money. Other messages showed that Kazemi asked McNair to stay with him that night and McNair promised to be there.

These text messages from the cell phones of both Kazemi and McNair support the police’s contention that the woman was spiraling out of control. As Spokesman Don Aaron told The Associated Press: “there has been nothing uncovered that suggests this is not a murder-suicide.”
