DE Gaines Adams was traded from Tampa Bay to Chicago

With four days before the NFL trade deadline, the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded underachieving defensive end Gaines Adams to the Chicago Bears, and the trade cost the Bears a second-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Adams, the fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft, had 13 1/2 sacks in two-plus seasons with the Bucs. Being expected by rookie coach Raheem Morris to post double-digit sacks this season, Adams has had 14 tackles and only one sack in five games this season by so far. Lackluster performances and failing to play up to expectations are supposed to the main reasons for his being traded.

The Buccaneers has planned to use Stylez G. White to fill the opening in the lineup in this Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Not sure whether the Bears will have Adams play his first game in Bears jersey against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday.
